When you think about hemp-derived THC, the first thing that might come to mind is Delta 8. However, the landscape has changed, and Delta 8 products no longer have one cannabinoid. In this quick guide, we’ll give you some helpful tips on how to find the perfect combination of THC in hemp products.
What is Hemp-Derived THC?
Hemp-derived THC describes any product extracted from the hemp plant vs. the cannabis plant. One of the biggest reasons for this matter is that THC extracted from cannabis is considered a Schedule I drug; on the contrary, any THC extracted from hemp is not classified as a Schedule I drug as long as it meets the guideline.
Less Than 0.3% of THC
For any THC to be considered hemp-derived, it must meet 2 qualifications.
- The raw hemp plant must have less than 0.3% of Delta-9 THC.
- The THC extract must have less than 0.3% of Delta-9 THC.
Although the new Farm Bill might say otherwise, the current Farm Bill 2018 has this outlined.
Combinations of Hemp-Derived THC
When hemp-derived THC first became a thing, you’d find products with only 1 cannabinoid. A good example was our Insane Punch – Delta 8 Disposable. It only had 1 gram and just Delta 8 (The good old days).
However, as Delta 8 distillate became more available and cheaper to produce, we added 2 grams, 3 Gram Disposables, etc. However, discovering more cannabinoids led to more products and different combinations.
The Good Part of Hemp-Derived THC
One of the biggest complaints we received in the beginning, was that Delta 8 didn’t hit hard. Although Delta 8 is not considered Marijuana, it can still pack a punch. Therefore, with the discovery of more potent forms of THC – we decided to mix different variations to resemble actual Marijuana.
The result was a mixture of letters after the word THC that proved extremely potent. When we use the word “potent,” we’re describing the absorption rate in your body. The different chemical structure in the THC’s molecules means the more your body absorbs.
The Bad Part of Hemp-Derived THC
With the good always comes the bad. The good thing was that mixing different types of THC made it stronger, and the bad was that now it could be too strong. As the old popular meme goes – has science gone too far?
You can still find Delta 8-only products, but our recently released products all have different mixtures of THC. We could return to single cannabinoid products, but unfortunately, the demand is no longer there.
The Perfect Combination of Hemp-Derived THC
Now that you have a general overview of why there are different combinations of THC – here’s how to find the perfect combination. Although this will depend on you as a person, here is a general outline to help you make your next purchase.
Conclusion
Next time you shop for Hemp-derive THC, consider its Delta type, letter, and any additional letters before or after. Not everyone will react the same to all types of THC, so basing your decision on this information will be the most helpful.
